Dr. Martha Dawson Barnard grew up in Alexandria, Virginia and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia, where she earned a B.S. degree in chemistry. In 1982 she received her D.D.S. degree at the Medical College of Virginia. She obtained her pediatric specialty training two years later at the Medical College of Georgia.

Dr. Dawson is married to W. Calvin Barnard, D.D.S., and they have three children: Joan, Juliet and John Calvin. She enjoys playing duplicate bridge, reading, cooking, and traveling.


Dr. Bates received his undergraduate Biology degree from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina as a summa cum laude graduate. To further his education, he attended the Medical University of South Carolina where he received his DMD degree with high honors and was inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental society.

To become specially educated in orthodontics, Dr. Bates received his Master's Degree and Specialty Certificate in orthodontics from Virginia Commonwealth University. Through this training he was exposed to the latest orthodontic techniques and technology.

In addition, during his residency, Dr. Bates fell in love with his wife Taylor, and Richmond, and they decided to make it home. Dr. Bates and his wife are committed and active members of the Richmond community and are active members in Redemption Hill Church. They desire to support local businesses and artists and strive to highlight the cultural wealth that Richmond has to offer.

In their free time, Dr. Bates and his wife can be found exploring Virginia and enjoying the outdoors. Dr. Bates has also been known to photograph a wedding or two in support of his wife's photography business. The two also love working on their recently purchased, nearly 90 year old house. Dr. Erika Lentini

Dr. Erika was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. From her birth until college she moved over seven times throughout the southeast. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.S. degree in 2006. In 2011 she obtained her D.M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia. She received her masters and certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University in 2014. Dr. Erika is a board-certified pediatric dentist.

Dr. Erika is married to Nathan Webb, MD, MS, FACOG, who is faculty at The Medical College of Virginia in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. They have one son, Arlo Hulan and a rat terrier, Trixie. They love living in and exploring Church Hill. Dr. Erika collects cookbooks and childrenís books. She remains as crazy about horses as she was when she was a little girl(she was a horse trainer before going into dentistry). She also loves talking about cooking, and eating a good meal with friends and family.

Dr. Andrew Gibson

Dr. Gibson grew up in Hanover, Virginia and graduated magna cum laude with university honors from Virginia Commonwealth University with a BS in Psychology in 2010. He continued his education and received his DDS from Virginia Commonwealth University/MCV in 2014. He then obtained his pediatric training at VCU/MCV, graduating in 2016 with a Masterís of Science in Dentistry and Specialty Certificate in pediatric dentistry.

Dr. Gibson is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, the Virginia Society of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association as well as the Virginia Dental Association.

Dr. Gibson is married to his high school sweetheart, Emilie, and lives in Mechanicsville. They have one son, Carter. In his spare time Dr. Gibson enjoys spending time with his family and their two dogs. He also enjoys the outdoors, mountain biking, soccer and snowboarding.
